It's been weeks...

...since I have banged on about how much I love a dress.  No I know it doesn't seem like that but it has been and - as predicted, the panic is starting to set in.  Well, when I say panic, I've just gone to look at a dress I had my eye on and SOB, it's sold out.  And it was half price.  Now were I a truly shallow person I would be wiping a way a tear at this point but since I'm not, I've sworn profusely, have googled like mad and an all consuming obsession to find more dresses has set in.  (if anyone was interested it was the Whistles Franki Dress in Pale Blue - bleep bleep beep)

I am on a One Woman Mission to get us all wearing more of these every day.  If this bores you to tears, fear not, tomorrow and Friday I shall be looking at things which enable you to have your legs fully clad in fabric but for now, I am being a dressy dressy thing.

Starting with some casual jersey which would actually work well with some opaque tights and ankle boots in the winter.  Throw on a leather jacket and a scarf and you're there.

Mayra Jersey Dress fro All Saints now £39 was £78

Or black - nothing wrong with black for a French looking Summer vibe.

A similar style but in a taupe/khaki colour.  Now this says dry clean only but it's viscose so I would totally cold wash it.  (but don't quote me on that - I personally would try it)

Celie Dress from All Saints now £44 was £88

V Neck in merino wool - this would also be fantastic layered in the winter with a shirt underneath it and opaques or with a longsleeved top for a more casual look.  Handwash.

Nexus Dress in Black was £118 now £59

Also in what they call Cement.

Still love the sleeveless Marilla Dress and it's less than the cost of a lot of tee shirts.

Marilla Dress in Dark Grey Marl from All Saints was £78 now only £39 - available in a host of other colours online as well.

Staying with a more neutral colour palette, there are some gorgeous day dresses at Mint Velvet.

Stone Satin Biker Dress was £99 now £49.  This would be also great dressed up for the evening with heeled gladiator sandals.

White now in a classic fabric.  Much girlier than most and something I love on other people.  Doesn't quite work for me - I fear I am too tall but it's such a lovely Summer alternative look.

White Brodrais Sundress was £119 now £59

Also available in a peach - again £59

Staying pale - a very easy to wear Sporty every day dress.

Ivory Trapeze Dress was £89 now £59

And in navy, again £59

Plain again but in an alternative blue shade - an absolute bargain from Hobbs is the Mindy Dress.  This is one of those dresses that would look fab with sneakers or skater shoes.

Hobbs NW3 Mindy Dress was £99 now £29

My pick of the plain though would have to be this slate blue simple dress from Jigsaw.

Jigsaw Summer Rice Dress in slate blue was £129 now £64

Now this year, I have had most success with print dresses.  Unusually for me but they really do lift the spirit.  Plus they always engender the most positive comments from people which again, can't help but make you feel good.

Coast Heloise Palm Cami Dress now £30 was £65  This cries out to be dressed up for the evening.  Perfect for the holiday suitcase as it would be ideal with flipflops for day time.

Flamingo Print Dress was £75 now £35 again from Coast.  Absolutely adore this.

Another little tunic dress to wear for dress down days with flipflops and a denim jacket if needed.

Fat Face Hollyhead Palm Leaf Tunic Dress in Ivory now only £20

Another print bargain from Wishbone - the dress I wore for the shoot i did at the beginning of the season.

Wishbone Riley Woven Front Dress was £75 now £25

A lovely navy print dress at Atterley Road.

Soaked in Luxury City Dress was £60 now £33

And just because we haven't had a bit of leopard print.

St Martins Josie Print Dress from Atterley Road was £59 now £32

For those slightly cooler days - then something with sleeves is ideal.  Especially if you're wearing it from the day to evening.  I actually wore a jacket today as it was on the chilly side when the sun went in.  I find it's fine not needing a jacket when you have your legs covered but with more flesh exposed to elements below, I need more coverage on top.

This would be idea and it's a complete bargain.  Gorgeous colour (and dressy enough to wear to work - would look fab with a navy, black, cream or camel blazer)

Wishbone Orly Broderie Tunic Dress in Mid Green was £85 now £42

And in deep pink again now only £35

Another gorgeous dress which I featured months and months ago I seem to recall but again with sleeves, from Mint Velvet.

Billie Print Zip Front Dress was £99 now £69

However finishing with my favourite and this isn't the cheapest but it's the perfect nod to boho without being too obvious.  I reckon would be a classic in your wardrobe.

Pearl Sequin Placket Dress was £119 now £89  And again, I would so definitely dress this up for the evening.

And to prove I practise what I preach, here I am today in ta dah - a dress!

Black quilted biker jacket - Whistles
Black Faridah hobo bag - Marc by Marc Jacobs
Black patent oversized buckle sliders - Zara

Dare I even attempt the whole skirt debacle again?.... (only saying this as I'm planning on wearing my leather skirt again tomorrow and can't believe that it is the ONLY one I can find that suits me.  Anyone else having more skirt success?  Actually I did find a great one in Reiss a couple of weeks ago - waited for the sale oh and sod's law, it's not reduced.  I'm on the case - fear not)

  1. Lose no sleep over the Franki dress, Kat. I was similarly obsessed with getting the pale blue in a 10 (preferably at half-price), failed, tried the pink one and ... vile. Massive. Tried the 8. Still vile, still massive: too long, too high-necked, deeply unflattering. Honestly. And I'm not saying this to make you feel better about your loss.
